Post-Tooth Extraction Care Guide for Children
After a tooth extraction, make sure your child is healthy. Follow these instructions for good healing.
First, take care of the extraction area. Bite on a cotton ball for 30 to 60 minutes. This is important to stop the bleeding. Avoid touching the area to prevent infection.
Second, avoid strenuous activity. Make sure your child rests and elevates their head when sleeping for the first 24 hours.
Third, give them soft, cool foods. Avoid hard or prickly foods. Do not use a straw to drink.
Fourth, painkillers can be given if necessary. Use an ice pack to reduce swelling.
Next, avoid gargling vigorously on the first day. Brush your teeth carefully to avoid infection.
If bleeding occurs, press with a cotton ball to stop it.
Monitor for signs of infection such as redness or swelling. Seek medical attention if necessary.
Finally, make sure to attend follow-up appointments with your dentist.
Follow these guidelines for a smooth healing process. Contact your dentist if you have any concerns.
