POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS AFTER TOOTH EXTRACTION

POST-EXTRACTION CARE

  • Do not keep gargling after extraction has been done to prevent excessive bleeding.

  • Do not change the gauze provided too early - allow enought time for pressure on the gauze (at least 5 minutes continuous biting pressure)

  • Do not smoke for at least 48 hours

  • Do not let food debris accumulate in the extraction socket.

     

  • Avoid hot drinks/food to prevent prolonged bleeding from the site.

  • Contact your care provider should there be any complications like prolonged bleeding.

     

  • If your care provider cannot be contacted (after hours) please head to the nearest emergency department in your local hospital.

 

POST-EXTRACTION CARE

  • SPILITATE IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE.

  • CHANGE THE PAD EVERY 15 MINUTES UNTIL THE BLEEDING STOPS.

  • EAT COLD DRINKS/FOOD SUCH AS ICE CREAM AND ICED DRINKS.

  • TAKE MEDICINE AS DIRECTED.

POST-EXTRACTION CARE

PLEASE TAKE PAIN RELIEF BEFORE THE EFFECT OF THE NAUGHTY MEDICINE WEARS OFF (2-3 HOURS).

IF YOU HAVE NOT EAT ANYTHING AT LEAST 2 HOURS BEFORE THE EXTRACTION, LINE YOUR STOMACH WITH MILK/SOUP IMMEDIATELY BEFORE TAKING THE MEDICINE.

IF ANTIBIOTICS ARE GIVEN, PLEASE FINISH THEM.

PLEASE CONTACT THE CLINIC IF THE PAIN EXPERIENCED LONGER THAN 2 DAYS, YOUR WOUND MAY HAVE BEEN INFECTED BY GENERIC STDS AND NEEDS FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT.
